Artifical Intelligence and Internet of Molding
1. Introduction
With the advancement of IoT, our company’s vision is to bring this concept to the industry of Manufacturing; specifically in the field of Mold and Molding. We provide consulting services to help digitalize data from injection machines and use that information to analyze factory and production status such as Utilization Rate, Availability, Downtime, Cycle time, Yield Rate etc. The goal is to help improve production efficiency and reduce material waste in real-time to advance towards Industry 4.0 using the fastest route. It is currently the fastest and cheapest way to introduce a manufacturing execution system (MES) to plastic injection factories. Our product has only been developed for over 2 years but has already implemented over 500 devices through Southeast Asia. Since we firming believe in the trend of IoT in Molding, we have a full R&D team working hard on this every day.
2. Product Features
– Cyber-Physical System: Our product comes with the total package of software and hardware to collect information from the injection machines to send it to the cloud server. This allows the information to be digitalized and accessible anywhere.
– Hardware: Our device is a Data Collector installed on each individual injection machine with a built-in WIFI antenna that transfers the data through a router and to the cloud server.
– Software: Our software not only has the capacity to store a large amount of data, it can also perform data analysis automatically with the frequency of every hour. We also turn data into easy-to-understand graphs and downloadable datasheets for further analysis. The goal for IoM (Internet of Molding) is ultimately to allow top-level managers to see real-time production of the factory without having to be physically there all the time. It frees up time to focus on solving actual problems within the factory.
3. Benefits
– No Brand Limitation: Able to connect and caught signals from 95% of all global injection machine brands (with the exception of machines that are antique or without signals that can be captured). Our product breaks the OPCUA standard problem thus eliminate the need to upgrade machines to support OPCUA.
– Low MES Investment Cost: Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a highly sought system to connect devices on the shop floor to monitor and control the data exchanged between the devices. The system allows data and processes to become transparent with the aim to improve production output and manufacturing operations. Currently, it is still a very expensive system to invest in, but our team has developed a device that can help clients easily digest the benefits of MES using a much lower investment, targeted specifically for the injection molding industry. Our device can connect all injection machines to display production, cycle time, and OEE. This is highly suitable for companies in Thailand because of our product’s ability to educate employee’s mindsets on the importance of factory digitalization and transparency as Thailand is slow in technology adoption.

– Production Efficiency: Using Cycle time to determine potential scrap rate, machine/mold/cooling channel maintenance time, and expected order completion date
– OEE: Overall Equipment Effectiveness for measuring manufacturing productivity using all the collected data (Availability, Quality, and Performance)
– Daily Report: For top-level managers to receive real-time production status without relying on manual reporting.

Advanced Molding Technology
1. Introduction
Our solutions target different process of mold and molding for plastic injection. We have carefully selected solution partners from all over the world such as Europe, America, Japan etc. that can offer the most suitable package to the manufacturing industry. Some solutions include 3D metal printing, EBM mold surface treatment, and other advance technology that can target any problems in mold and molding. Our team can provide expertise on LSR, MuCell, MIM and much more to really help customers solve problems on their product. Our aim is to help our customers create cutting-edge products that can continuously respond to the latest trend and technology.
2. Mold Cooling Channel
Info: All machines with a cooling channel need maintenance. We have a solution to clean and maintain the cooling channel using the natural, physical principle of vibration. Effective results can be seen within a few hours and could even clean up to 4 molds at once.
Problem: The formation and build-up of the scale inside the cooling channel for every 0.1mm can have a high effect on the efficiency and capacity use of the mold or machine.
Benefits: Our solution uses a chemical-free cleaning mechanism to quickly blast away the scale formed inside the cooling channels. By maintaining the mold or machines at its highest efficiency at all times it helps reduce energy costs, maintain product quality, and condition stability.

4. Flow Balance Optimization
- Info: Using simulation software, we can predict the mold flow of plastic and check for any reasons that can cause flow imbalance.
Problem: Flow imbalance causes parts to produce NG or defective parts that may require secondary processing or become scrap, which are all additional costs to companies.
Benefit: We excel in redesigning mold, especially parts with multi-cavity, to not only increasing flow balance to 100% but also increase yield rate and production efficiency.
5. Cycle Time Optimization
- Info: Using IoM (Internet of Molding) to capture cycle time data from the injection machines to perform useful analysis and find the best target cycle time for each mold.
Problem: Unstable cycle time can cause production instability, resulting in an impact on quantity and quality. Without proper data or analysis, we will be unable to identify the root cause, which can be from many factors including labor, mold, or machine condition.
Benefits: IoM allows user to view the data in a comprehensible way at once glance. By stabilizing the cycle time, it can help increase production efficiency and quality. Stabilizing cycle time is also one of the basic requirements in order to move towards Automation.

Info: Minnotec’s patented product takes advantage of polarized lights to quickly reflect the area of stress residue on the parts after production.
Problem: Stress on parts cause parts to have the potential to crack easily and cause painted parts to change color over time.
Benefits: By revealing the stress areas, we can troubleshoot the problem using software simulation to increase product durability and reduce the problem of plastic discolor.
